Michael wrote yesterday about Facebook and their collaboration with EssilorLuxottica to make Ray-Ban Stories, which are basically Wayfarer sunglasses with fancy cameras and speakers in them.
I think that these sunglasses are fabulous, and reflect Facebook's desire to get their billions and billions of users (who are variously on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp) off their phones, onto another device.
I was thinking about getting some of these glasses myself, to take pictures when I'm running. I might need to find a version that would cling to my ears?
However, not everyone loves Facebook. Some "woke warriors" don't like any market-leading companies, with a large market share. They accuse them of market domination, and take every opportunity to undermine their initiatives because they think that it makes them sound smart.
Here is an example of a web-influencer who does not like Facebook (see the tweet in the picture below). His name is Anil Dash, and he's the CEO of Glitch, which is some kind of web publishing platform. He seems to be moaning about privacy concerns because someone may be photographed without knowing it?
My advice? Tune out spiteful naysayers like him. Who cares what they say? As the Turkish saying goes, "the dogs bark, but the caravan goes on". In other words, history moves ahead, no matter the criticism it may attract.
