Apple's Annual September Event

Last night Apple had their annual launch event - virtually. They unveiled a new smartwatch that can measure blood oxygen as well as a virtual fitness service and a bundled subscription offering. (Click here for more details.) The Watch Series 6 will start at $399, and there's another mid-tier watch called Watch SE, with less functionality than the high-end version which will retail from $279.

You can now bundle your subscriptions for music, cloud storage, TV, gaming, and other offerings in a service called Apple One. This shows razor sharp focus in its Services business in order to avoid being dependent on the Apple iPhone. Services made up over 20% of Apple's revenues in the April to June quarter, up from just 10% in the same period five years ago.

There's also an updated, much faster and more powerful iPad Air, which will retail from $599. It has a new touch-ID button on the side that unlocks the screen. The new iPhones are expected to be revealed next month.

A new feature called, Fitness+ offers virtual workout classes with videos on the iPhone or your TV/iPad. It will be directly competing with Mirror and Peleton for market share.

The infographic below shows Apple's success in "Wearables, Home and Accessories" which features products like the Apple Watch and AirPods. This segment has almost doubled its revenues from 2017 to 2019, and for the 2020 year its most likely to crest $30 billion.
