Tesla has finally released the long-awaited $35 000 Model 3 that I'm probably going to drive one day. This new Model 3 boasts 220 miles range, a top speed of 130mph, and for the "petrol" heads (maybe car lovers?) out there; this thing goes from 0-60mph in just 5.6 seconds.
Just to put things into perspective, acceleration of 5.6 seconds for 0-60mph is, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Audi S8, BMW M3, Ford Mustang V6, territory, at a fraction of the price! What a beast of an electric car for just $35 000, I'm still in awe.
On the Tesla blog they wrote, "Although lower in cost, it is built to achieve the same perfect 5-star rating as the longer-ranged version, which has the lowest probability of injury of any car ever tested by the US Government."
Tesla also announced a new Model 3 Standard Range Plus, which offers 240 miles of range, a top speed of 140mph, 0-60mph acceleration of just 5.3 seconds for only $37 000. Here's the fun part, for 6% more money, you get 9% more range, more power, and an upgraded interior, that's quick math. Thank you ELON TUSK!
Here's the catch - the cars will only be available online, however, Tesla halted online sales prior to the announcement. "You can now buy a Tesla in North America via your phone in about 1 minute, and that capability will soon be extended worldwide." said the blog. I'm ready to risk it all and make a bad $35 000 decision in just 60 seconds, who's with me?
